  • How to fix Canopus HQ file corrupted

    Hello my friends,
I tried to serch the forum with no answer.

    This is the question:

during a session capture using Edius 5.51 and SD analog input on NX board my PC crashed.
Now I have a 11GB Canopus HQ file and Edius is unable to open it.
The problem, I think, seems to be the lack of file closing procedure by Edius during the crash.

I need this file. Please is there any way to fix it ?

    Tank you guys in advance

    Try du use VirtualDub!
It can help in some cases!

At first try to load the file in VirtualDub.
If this works set in "video" & "audio" "direct stream copy"
Save the file with new name!

Unfortunately Virtual dub does not open the file.
The error message is "unknow or unsupported file type "

Still the same. I tried Fixplayer whith same result !!

VirtualDub can restore corrupt indexes & chunks sometimes! I'm sorry!

Try some tools from this section:

Does the open fail immediately, or after speeding some time reading the file?

If all else fails, and you are a low-level bit twiddler you might be able to manually patch the file header using a known good HQ file as a template.

Does anyone have a copy of the HQ file structure documentation?

No problem. Tank you again for your rapid replay !!

Yes the open fails immediatly. For this reason I suspect a bad crc in file structure or something like this. I could try to patch manually the file but I do not Know the format / structure of Canopus HQ.
I hope in a Canopus Utility to fix this.
