  • Output from Edius Timline to HDV

I have a Sony HVRZ1 and I'm unable to record HDV from Edius 4.24 timeline back to camera.

I'm using OHCI HDV mode through firewire. I've checked all my camera settings and I think they are all set to receive HDV. the menu item for Down convert should be "off" if I want to record in HDV, correct?

This is first time output to HD tape and wouldn't you know I waited to last minute and the project needs to be delivered tomorrow AM.

Sure hope it is something that can be done in realtime.

    THANKS!
    Bob

Before you can output to tape you have to use Speed encoder tor Procoder and render the timeline back to HDV, then use TS writer in Capture to write it back to tape.

Thanks Khoi for the clear instructions. I successfully converted to HDV .m2t file.

When I recorded back to tape through TS Writer, it appeared to control the camera, and it said that the transfer was completed successfully--however there is nothing on the tape, Nor, was there video on the camera monitor during the transfer.

        I appreciate the help.

To be sure, can you play that .m2t file on the timeline? if yes then there should be no reason why it won't record to tape, sound like that .m2t file is blank.

I have seen a problem with recording back to camera if AV to DV had been selected in the Z1'S menu. It could also be a corruption in the mpeg2 so try to render it again if the menu setting doesn't help.

              Hi Guys,

the .m2t Plays fine in timeline. I had two different .m2t clips to test, so I'm sure it is not corrupt.

The AV to DV menu setting is set to off. I can input/capture to Edius fine, just can't seem to get anything out to HVRZ1.

Canopus opens soon so hopefully my man, James can shed some light on this.

Thanks so much for trying to help in my hour of need.

Try this, unplug the firewire to your camera, open a new HD project, make sure your camera is in HDV, plug the firewire back to your camera then use Ts writer, you should see picture in your LCD as it write.

Are you running Windows XP? If so, is Service Pack 2 installed?

                      Yes SP2 clean install.

Strange thing is everything works fine in standard DV. Full camera control etc for my Sony HVRZ1...

When I selected HDV Generic input it didn't find any input camera device even though it shows up fine in both placed in device manager.

                      Thanks,
                      Bob

If DV works and HDV doesnt...makes me wonder if there's a setting on the camera being missed..

Oh here's a question - are you capturing via an onboard FireWire port or a hardware board? If so, which board?
