  • timeline cursor jump again!

    Edius 6.03 - HD storm

Place a single clip on the timeline, drag the cursor to the front of the clip and hit spacebar, cursor jumps forward 3 seconds and plays.

It doesn't always do this - just sometimes, about 50%

Use page up page down to select front of clip and it always plays correctly.

Settings such as show correct frame whilst scrubbing are ticked, it does this with OHCI, HDStorm, any sequence setting/project settings and also with a colour bar clip.

If the timeline scale is set at 15 seconds, the cursor can jump 7 seconds forward when spacebar is hit, but it is random.

    Paul :-)

Beginning of the timeline, beginning of a clip, 1 frame zoom level, try advancing 1 frame with the mouse wheel, it keeps jumping back to the beginning.

            Cursor jumps since 6.03

Hi i am a new In this Forum. I am a professional Cutter from Austria.
We are using Edius since Version 4 because of its speed.
Since Version 6.03 we have jumping Cursor situation.
When we edit fast and moving the Cursor quickly a few seconds back in the Timeline to Play the last sequence, the Cursor jumps back to the previous position. It has been something to do with the Buffer!?!?
Please help because its so annoying.

which EDIUS hardware do you use, or is this in OHCI mode?

also, test again by not showing waveforms and clip thumbnails

we have the hd storm plus card but even without that it also happens
we have win7 pro quad core 3,2 mhz pcs with 8 gig ram and a 512 mb ati video card.

its like edius is not fast enough to follow my cursor or it has still something in its buffer cache. when i downgrade to 6.02 it disapears.
but i dont want to. why is grass valley so slow in fixing their bugs - in times where you can change to cs5 for 180 euro (update). also its getting slowlier from version to version. thats their biggest advantage against the other video edit software.

I think you should use the tool you are comfortable with. Sometimes that means switching.
I have not been able to reproduce your problem.

                      Steve,

This obviously exists as an issue for some users, brushing it under a convenient carpet doesn't help anyone, a slightly more understanding approach might be in order here.

This little problem may not show on your system, nor may it concern many users, however it does cause me and obviously some others an amount of concern, sufficient to put pen to paper on this board in an attempt to find a cause, and or, a solution.

Anyone who cannot reproduce the problem, simply has nothing positive to add to this thread, unless they have valid suggestions to make based on similar experiences.

The simple statement that "it doesn't happen here therefore it doesn't exist"
can never qualify as an answer in anyones book.

I'll pursue this issue and post my findings here, if I ever improve the cursor performance on my system, which my help other users to resolve their
                      problems too.

I think you are reading things in posts which are not there. I simply said I have not been able to reproduce this problem. No where have I said it does not exist.

But let me put It simple. If we cannot reproduce it the engineers have nothing to fix. We must be able to show them when it is happening , why it is happening and if it is hardware specific which hardware causes it.
So far we have too little info for all of the above.

Please don't fantasize about things not written in a post.

Thanks for understanding and not fantasizing.

That is not at all what he said. Please don't look for trouble where there is none. And Steve certainly does not need a lesson on what the forum is for.

                              i appologize

but i need to fix this bug or i get crazy.
when you have to cut 2 or 3 short films a day and everytime you press space the cursor jumps 2 or 3 seconds forwards or backwards you get pissed off.
and then you are looking for help in this forum and the moderator says "You have to use the program you are comfortable with and sometime it means tk change"' than i am not looking for trouble your moderator is. but its his problem. you changed something in 6.03 that causes some trouble with the buffer. when you can not reproduce the problem look at the changes you made. maybe you can help us this way.
