  • Edius 6.01 No Audio After Render

Hello, I am new here and I am e very new Edius user. After I read some threads, I tried to change the audio to 20,12 and 18 (those were the ones I was allowed to) but nothing changes. After the rendering process there is no sound in my video file. I can here it while I am editing my video. I can't check my sondcard's wav or master level because I can't find the software. Is there something else I can do? Can you please help me?

you are using a strange project setting for your country, I thought turkey is PAL?

also, you are using an 8 channel preset, do you really have 8 audio channels in your video clips

right click a video clip in the bin and make a screenshot of the audio properties tab?

I am not sure if EDIUS can handle xvid, never tried

Which one is PAL? Edius made the settings automatically. I will send you the screenshot you asked.

you need to go to system settings and create a new PAL project preset

Pal is 720x576 for Standard Def, you can't switch your existing NTSC project to PAL, so you need to start from scratch

Okey now I made a new setting. And changed the "Render Format" to MPEG2 Program Stream. And it works!

Thank you antonsvideo for helping a very beginner : )

why HQX fine for render? is your footage 10bit?

I would use Canopus HQ Fine

also, you set field order to progressive, are you sure your footage is progressive?

Well I changed it and MPEG2 Program Stream works well now. I just couldn't remove the attached file.

But I have other issues. I am sure someone has asked these, as I am a beginner I didn't want to open another bunch of beginner topics and wanted to write here. (And my eyes are aching after working with my video for 3 days. Reading the forum and trying to finish my work..)

              1. When I want to add a transition I click on the clip then Ctrl+P but it adds it to the end of the clip. How can I add it to the beginning?
              2. I searched for color editing, tried some but do you know the biggest tip of editing the clip so that it will look like a film/movie?

I am loving this program more each hour : )

if the clips are fully extended (showing little gray triangles), you can't add a transition properly

each clip needs to have some meat to allow for the overlap needed by the transition

so trim a second from the end of a clip and a second from the start of the adjoining clip

does CTRL+P work now? or ALT+1, or ALT+2 or ALT+3, or drag transition from trans window to between 2 clips

When I drag that from the effects panel, it works. But when I do ctrl+p it adds to end. Okey will try what you say.

Is there a way of freezing a frame for a period of secs? I want to freeze a frame and make it fade out to black.

And I want to slow down a part of the clip and make it fade out with blur.

How can I do them? :(

when using Ctrl+P you must select the clip before or after the cut and ideally, park the timeline cursor at the cut point

for freeze frames, I prefer the snapshot tool, this creates a still of the location of the cursor, then I place this still on a track above and to the right of the cursor, then I fade it out by dropping a dissolve to the end of the still into the gray keyer track

to slow a clip, cut the section you wish to slow and press Ctrl+E and type your speed

then cut the slowed clip again at the point where blur should start, add blur filter to right of cut and add dissolve between the two, fade out by dragging dissolve onto the edge of the clip, in the keyer track

Uhmm and where is the snapshot tool? I right clicked my clip and clicked Time Effect then Freeze Frame and made the setting from there. Is that the same thing? This looks like it did what I wanted. Now I am going to try slowing down the frames. Can't find the simple blur effect. I am completely lost : )

Shortcuts works really great. Thank you.

Is there a way of selecting all the clips I choose? I guess there should be a key combination for that one too. Maybe selecting the in and out points and click something? I am dragging my mouse all over the clips and it runs out my patience a bit! : )
