  • Samurai HD-SDI ProRes Field Recorder

Im just having a quick look at this and wanted to know,
How does Edius 6.03 handle ProRes?
Why all these manufacturers make things with Apple in mind is beyoind me.
Especially with how Apple are treating their Pro FCP users.
Anyway can Edius handle Pro Res easily or has all that hd sdi large amounts of footage all got tobe converted to Canopus HQ /HQX etc.
    Thanks in advance

I recently tested the Ninja (the HDMI version)

I did not have to download that plugin. The files worked native in EDIUS 6.03 and quite well in fact. Not like Canopus HQ but workable if not in a heavy edit scenario

I have Samurai working with Canon XL H1s (HD/SDI) ProRes HQ, 50i, 10bit, 220Mbps. Edius 6.05 accepte files perfectly with HQX SuperFine 10 bit.
It was a very good upgrade to my Canon!
Also it works great with my Canon MXF 305.

Did you ingest the footage via SDI to keep 10bit workflow?
Remember Quicktime files will be processed 8bit, except uncompressed files!

When you import ProRes to Edius 6.05 make sure you set Super White- otherwise you have wrong black level.

ProRes does not import with proper colors in Edius versions below 6.05
