I have a que of proxy's being created but I need to export a little portion of footage. I tried pausing the proxy que but when I try to export, instead of the export window opening (and exporting) a "Create proxy" window opens and it starts making a proxy of who knows what. How can I export footage without the proxy thing disturbing me?

Hi zvit.
I think you may have to wait for Edius to complete it's proxy encodes. Not to sure about pausing, but it may be that Edius needs to be in one mode or another. Or at least that would seem to make sense.
Cheers.

Are you sure? Because this doesn't make sense. The creation of proxys for all my footage takes hours and I need to export something now. I'll try to DELETE the files from the proxy que... export... and then go back to proxy mode and hopefully Edius will resume the proxy creation where it left off.Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH, Intel Core i7 3770k 3.5GHz, 4 Core, 8 Threads, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB, 500GB SSD HDD for OS, 40TB Usable Hard Drive Capacity, Window 10 PRO 64-bit Edius 9.5 WORKSTATION...Comment

What does not seem to make sense is expecting Edius to do two encode jobs at the same time. Just like doing convert file from bin assets. Edius does do a certain amount of things simultaneously, but doing two encodes at the same time seems like pushing it too far. There is nothing better than trying stuff out to see what happens. Like I said earlier, upgrading to 6.03 and using the manual is always a good start.
Maybe someone from GV can confirm whether or not Edius can do background proxy encoding while exporting/encoding something else.
Cheers.

Not to get into debates or anything, Edius background proxy can be set to pause for anything else like rendering and add to timeline (which is an export as well) so why can't it pause to export something else?Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH, Intel Core i7 3770k 3.5GHz, 4 Core, 8 Threads, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB, 500GB SSD HDD for OS, 40TB Usable Hard Drive Capacity, Window 10 PRO 64-bit Edius 9.5 WORKSTATION...Comment

Like I said, maybe a question for a GV person. But compressing two things at the same time?Comment

Pause the queue and delete all the entries. Do the export, then go to the bin choose all your media, right click and "create proxies". Any which already have proxies will not get them re-created. Not an answer to your question (I have not had a chance to find out if it does the same thing for me I am afraid) but should work.
Personally I always turn off create proxies automatically and do them manually. It slows down EDIUS too much for me, and a lot of times I don't ever use them.EDIUS silver certified trainer.

Yes, I already figured that out. Thanks. I just delete the que, do the export, but you don't have to do what you said. If you just enter proxy mode again, Edius will again put all of your clips in the que. Just make sure it's not paused.
Why would it effect Edius? You should set it to pause when you do work on the timeline and it will only create proxies in the background while Edius is idle.Gigabyte Z77X-UP4 TH, Intel Core i7 3770k 3.5GHz, 4 Core, 8 Threads, 32GB RAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 2GB, 500GB SSD HDD for OS, 40TB Usable Hard Drive Capacity, Window 10 PRO 64-bit Edius 9.5 WORKSTATION...Comment

As has been suggested and confirmed, Edius does not seem to do two encode jobs/modes/etc. at the same time. When in proxy mode and with an active encode list, this would suggest being in that mode negates other encodes because the encoder is already tied up with doing MP4 exports from the queue. Either way, as you say, you have already figured it out. Maybe it's time to move past this one now, as you have already worked out your solution.Comment
