Backup and Edius 6

I have a question I am setting up a 10 terrabyte RAID for long term back up of my raw footage. I already have all my support clips on there (music animations etc. ) when I put my AVCHD raw should I use Edius's field editing option to back up a edited job? choosing the option of "full quality" of course.
