  • "failed to export" ox80070057: The parameter is incorrect.

I have had this error message on and off for some time (but not all the time - it is intermittent) when I go to export the timeline to mpeg elementary streams or mpeg program streams (all HD 1080 30p projects being converted to 1080i 29.97 with parameters optimized for blu ray) : " failed to export ox80070057: The parameter is incorrect" . If I close out Edius and restart then I am able to proceed. I now have a 1 hour and 34 minute project in which I cannot get the error message to go away - my only recourse is to export to Canopus HQ avi and then open up a new project - put that on the timeline and then I am able to export to mpeg elementary and program streams as per usual. I don't think I have any corrupt video files in the project as they all play on the timeline - all the files (expect for about 5 minutes) are MXF 1080p 100mbps bit rate from the Nanoflash (Sony PMW-EX1 camera) - the 5 minutes is from a Canon Eos 7D (mp4 files) which I have used before with no problem. The project is rather simple - all clips on one Va track - a brief period of music on one audio track at the beginning of the video and overlay title avi on a V track which I have used several times in the past. Transitions mainly 3D, filters mainly color balance, white balance, layouter and Mercalli. I have emptied my temporary files on the computer as suggested by AntonsVideo but to no avail. All my hard drives are defragged.

I have been using Edius 5.51 (6 is on the shelf awaiting finishing of this project). Has this issue been fixed in 6 (or 6.03)? Has anyone else had this same issue in the past and found a solution? Thank God HQ avi worked - the thought of redoing the whole project with literally hundreds of clips was mind boggling.

Thanks for the advice - just tried turning auto windows update off (completely - not even checking for updates) and then tried exporting and the same error message turned up. Any other thoughts?

did you reboot after disabling auto updates?

I didn't but just emptied the temp folder again, made sure updates were turned off and did a "cold" reboot - same error code. It must be something in my project. If I put the HQ AVI file on the same project timeline and try to export between in and out points (using only the HQ AVI file) it will not export. I have to start a completely new project (using the same exact settings as my old one), place the file on the timeline and then export occurs flawlessly. As I mentioned, I have had this happen before with my smaller projects (usually between 15 minutes to 40 minutes) and it has always gone away with quitting out of Edius and restarting. With this long project it just will not export using the elementary mpeg exporter. I even tried to make a motion menu for my blu-ray movie that was about 50 seconds long (only MXF 1080 30p files from the Nanoflash) in it's own project and it would not export - had to go through the HQ AVI intermediate step - then start another project and it would export so it looks now that the length of the project doesn't have anything to do with the problem.

I do have NewBlue Art, Film and Motion Effects - never even saw them before and never used them. I have proDAD and used Mercalli on a few clips in my current project (but not with the motion menu for blu-ray - 50 seconds of clips). I also have TitleMotion but not used in this project.

                can you close EDIUS

then with win explorer, go to the EDIUS plug-in folder and rename any newblue plugin to old (for testing)

start EDIUS and try the export

sorry but wemt on a minivacation right after the last post. I think I will wait until I install Edius 6 (just finished my last major project in 5.51) and go up to 6.03 to see if the problem persists. If it does I will try your suggestion.

I wonder if anyone using 6.03 has found this error code on trying to export mpeg2 elementary streams?

I finished my last project and installed 6.03 on my main workstation (Windows 7 Ultimate) and was able to open my 94 minute project (much to my surprise) without a hitch - it didn't carry over the Mercalli filters but put in a "dummy filter" making the few files I used the plugin on easy to find. No relinking was necessary on the video files (over 600). I then installed 6.03 on my office workstation (both have Vista Professional) and had to relink files which went smoothly. Anyway, I tried exporting and no error messages whatsoever - went right into mpeg elementary streams or mpeg generic. So whatever problem with 5.5 was "cured" in 6.03.

By the way, I really like 6.03 - this software just keeps getting better and better.
