  • Edius 6 Fade to Black and Basic Transition

Does anyone know how to do a basic dissolve in Edius 6 and a Fade to Black? Thanx :)

there are so many ways, I will only name a few

    dissolve:
    1. place cursor between 2 clips, press Alt+1 or Alt+2 or Alt+3 or Alt+4
    2. drag the dissolve from effects palette to between 2 clips
    3. use the add default transition timeline toolbar icon

    fade:
    1. drag dissolve to beginning or end of clip's keyer track, the gray part
    2. use the fade in and out timeline toolbar tools (after adding them via customize, button, timeline)
    3. use manually opacity fades by creating nodes on the keyer track and audio track

      Nothing happens when I press Alt+1, 2 or 3

I don't know what I'm doing wrong I placed the cursor between both clips and pressed Alt + 1, and nothing happens. I remember doing it differently in Edius 4.5, you'd right click, add transition then click duration to change the duration of the transition. But nothing is happening when I use the Alt+number method. Do you have any other methods I could try? Thanks.

You can hit Ctrl P or just drag the transition or hit the transition ICON just above the timeline.

is the track header on the left selected? this is new in EDIUS 6

in EDIUS 5, the trackheader automatically selected according to clip selection

If you are using the Alt keys or the fade buttons, you must select the track first.

I didn't have the track selected - silly me :) Thanks again! God bless.
