  • Why is 50i displayed as 25*?

    Hi all,

I've shot my footage in 1440 50i. On the timeline of a 1440 50i project the properties panel of the footage indicate that it has a frame rate of '25*'.

Why does it not say '50'?

Probably because 50i (50 interlaced FIELDS) is exactly the same as 25p (or FRAMES, remember 1 FRAME = 2 Fields).

As Harro explained. The * means it is the native rate that was shot.

25P is not the same as 50i but the time code is the same since most things refer to timecode. It's the same for 60i as 29.97frames per second. The temporal rate of 60i is the same as 60P each field is 1/60sec apart just half the vertical information but frame rate ( time code ) is 29.97fps. Very confusing mixing exposure rates with time code.
