It certainly did, but surprisingly very few FCP users would admit to Edius's better real time performance and it is only since the announcement of FCP X that criticism of FCP performance has been so forthcoming. One new feature of FCP X that I like the look of is the ability to collapse stacked tracks or sequence into a single timeline event that may then be opened to show all stacked tracks if needed later. This is similar to an audio editing feature that I tried to get Mackie to adopt years ago for multitrack orchestral recordings where one could have 24 or more tracks recorded at one time it would have been very nice to be able to collapse all the tracks to a single line with the ability to select which of the multiple tracks appeared on the edit line - this would have made editing so much easier! Alas, it never happened.
Should be an interesting end to the month.
Cheers,
Geoff

All the NLE's have some great individual editing routines unique to themselves, although without seeing Prem 5.5 with a proper Cuda/Nvidia/Mercury setup. I would have to say that Edius is still best on balance, more so for mixed formats and realtime editing. Although my FCP comment was a little tongue in cheek. I am working on a project at the moment in another studio, on FCP. Because FCP was acting more like a KFC than an NLE, I managed to get my client to switch to Edius running on a native win7/MacPro setup. Needless to say, it makes minced meat out of FCP even on the same MAC.
BTW, we used to use DB8's loaded with adat/tdif io's and a bunch of s3000's and DR16's, when it was the only real way to record and mix digitally.
Cheers.
dave.

I don't know if you drank too much apple Juice but as Pat said our release schedule has nothing to do with apple I add...,oranges or pineapples.
It has to do with GRASSvalley. :)Last edited by GrassValley_SL; 06-21-2011, 05:21 PM.
