I know I posted on this before but I really hate the way Edius 6 handles audio compared to ealier versions. I drag clips in sometimes the audio follows sometimes it doesnt I feel like I need to take a course on just the audio portion.I know there just trying to be like FCP and Premiere but one of the things that was great about Edius was that it was fast and simple I think were losing that.

While I am not a huge fan of general audio handling in EDIUS, once you get the hang of EDIUS 6, I think it is actually easier than 5 if you use mapping. However if you use VA tracks there are a few things that are a bit weird. Also if you drag audio clips tot he timeline instead of using the Insert or Overwrite buttons, some of the mapping is ignored. -
The mapping is not ignored during draggin. You have 2 modes of draggin
1 is to the connected tracks
2 is to unconnected tracks this is kind of a map override mode.
The issue is that the shading is the same.
That is what confuses people.Last edited by GrassValley_SL; 05-31-2011, 03:44 AM.Comment

I have to disagree. If I map only A1 and drag a clip straight to the timeline, both channels will follow. This was confirmed by Kobe and the word right now is (wait for it ...) spec until they can change it.
Alex said that right now, dragging is not the preferred method of operation.Comment

I pretty much just drag all the time. The things I hat are when I am trying to drag 2 clips with audio on top of each other and the audio insists on replacing the other track. BTW heres a fun one that slowed down my work flow. Take a bunch of clips drop them into the timeline then drop a dissolve on them while there all highlighted then try and delete the audio from all the clips while there highlighted and see what happens.Randy

Make sure the mode to the top left of the timeline is set to Insert (Blue arrow) and then try your drag and drop and see if that works. The tracks should shift and not replace. Also I did as you suggested with the group of clips. When I dropped the transitions on them, the clips became unhighlighted. After I lassoed them to reselct , I hit Alt A and everything worked as it should. Audio disappeared and video remained with transitions.Comment
