When I was trying the Vitascene demo (now removed) it worked ok on my quad Mac Pro. It is really GPU intensive...so what graphics card do you have?

      Havn't tried yet...
It was pretty bad in the past, is it worse now?
Vitascene rarely plays in RT with HD projects for me.

Well the last time I tried, some transitions were RT...the bokeh stuff was really hard on my GPU (X1900).

I think Jerry knows much more about Vitascene, he owns a copy.

I think my 6600, although pci is a bit long in the tooth, and I also mostly work HD, but it feels a lot more sticky than it did - it also now has a plugin for AE7 and AE8, I got it to work in 7 but on 8 it all goes horribly black! but then I'm having no luck with CS3 on my main edit system - looks like it's 7 for me for the rest of my days.

I've got this huge 7900 card gathering dust in the cupboard - needs 2 pci slots to run it, can't fit it - not enough slots - bummer - well unless I rip out my sound card - er no way!

There's a newish service pack for Vitascene 1.0 on the Prodad site - if anyones interested.

Yes, Vitascene 1.0.32 works as expected in 4.51c.

If you have time to render, the quality is worth the wait.

Before I responded to this I went and downloaded the update and
tried it. Heres the long and short of it.

I had to reinstall the software(Vitascene) plus the update. It just wacked a few things.
I mainly use 1920x1080 presets. Well, that wont do any more. I can get it to do 1 effect and it isn't able to render . did I say it took forever to prefill a 1 second transition. Wasn't like that before.

In 1440x1080 1.3, I was getting the same realtime I had before on 1 second
transitions. With prefill I can get 3 second transitions to play through. This is on my main system.
It works as usual in this preset. Works on Uncompressed, HQ, and Blackmagic MotionJPEG codecs.
I hope some of this information helps. It does take some juice to use.
My Quadro card is 1 1/2 years old so it is fast loosing it's edge.
Prodad did say that ATI appears to work better with Vitascene.
On my system the ATI didn't play well with my 3 ware card, therefore the Quadro.

I will inform Prodad of the 1920 preset issue. Maybe they can adjust something that has gone walk about in 4.51c.

My ATI X850XT was broken, so i had to buy a new video card. I created a little HDV project (m2t files) with Vitascene effects and filters for comparison. The videocards i am interested in were an ATI HD2900XT and a nVidia 8800 GTS 320MB. Both Cards have an overlay in Edius 4.51 but do not play Xplode transitions in realtime, as my X850 XT does. But there was a big difference in time to render my Vitascene test project. The 2900XT needs about 66% of the X850XT rendertime and the 8800 GTS only 46% of the X850XT time!!!! The more power of the 8800 GTS is visible on every effect or filter in Vitascene.

                    Kind regards,
