  • Adding Title Overlay

I'm using the free trial version of Edius 6 and am most likely going to by it. There doesn't seem to be a help menu or manual available so that's why I'm posting here. What I need is to put a title overlay on all the videos that I edit with Edius. The title overlay needs to be positioned at the bottom left of the video so that it doesn't spoil the video. I just need to put www.nameofthesite.com so it's like a watermark to protect the videos.

Does anyone here know how to do that with Edius 6. I need the title overlay to be displayed permanently for the duration of the video. I'd be very grateful for any assistance with this. Please make it really clear for me as I'm a bit of a novice regarding editing and have previously been very happy just using a simple program called Pinnacle.

Place the "Watermark" on a track above all others or in the title track, I prefer the upper track, extend it for the full duration, by dragging the end or right click and set "Duration"
In the information panel double click the Layout filter
You can then re position, re size and orientation of the clip
You can use the ChromaKey filter in the Keyers section to control any transparency if the clip does not already have any
I use PNG stills with transparency for this

...or produce a title in Quick Titler, add it to the title track and drag it to the duration of the timeline

I have to agree with Barry about using the video tracks for titles. I basically consider the Title tracks almost obsolete.

Thanks Barry. I must admit I'm struggling to follow your instructions because I'm a real beginner regarding these things. If you wouldn't mind could you give me simpler instructions what to do from the moment I click on "Create Title". Should I select the "Quick Titler"? Any more help on this would be much appreciated.

              Sorry Marlowe
No I dont use Quick titler, obviously my reference to the title track has mislead you, as well as using QT you can drag clips to the Title track and it will be above all others but there is less you can do there than in a Video track, I agree with pjsss the Title track is now becoming redundant

I prefer to bring a PNG file (preferred) of your logo into the BIN
Then Drag it to an UPPER "V" track and extend it to the desired length
In the information panel double click the Layout filter
You can then re position, re size and orientation of the clip and any change will immediately appear in the Monitor window
In the full version the help file and manual can be accessed by the F1 key (pdf) format and is reasonably helpful if using the index

Pictures are more help so see if below is of any use
