  • Editing full HD from HDR-AX2000E (AVC/h.264)

Hello. Please help me. We use camcorder HDR-AX2000E. I editing video from this camera in Edius. The files are in AVC codec. My project profile is 1920 x 1280 50 i Canopus HQ.
Edius rendering all project, and then I export it to H.264 coded with CBR 15 mb/s. The problem is that this file have some "artefacts" on transitions. It looks like "VHS cassets - striped" .
I don't know why the quality full HD is bad?

The second problem is time of rendering to h.264 codec is 18 hours! why? I thought that Editing programme do not have to transcode AVC again...

I do not want to change the AVC files on Canopus AVi by AVC2HQ programme. I would like to work on AVC and export the file to h.264...Do you have any idea about these two problems?

Third thing- I have movie (4 hours in AVC) recorded by this camera and other 3 hours which are recoderd by other camera ( Camera fx 1). SD quality. AVC must have upper field. other 3 hours from cassets have lower field. So now, which project profile I have to choose to have a high quality?

I know from the specifications of the camera AX2000e that the format movie is AVCHD (1920 x 1080), quality of movie is HD: FX (1920x1080i, 24 Mb/s) / FH (1920x1080i, 16 Mb/s).

    My system is:

Edius 6.0, windows Win 7 64 bit, 4 GB of ram memory , Quad 9300

To receive a reply it would help if you posted your system specs. For a guide to how to handle the files got to sony website they have a workflow for handling NX5 files in Edius, which is the big brother version of your camera

What hard drives are you using? How are you viewing output? Artifacts could be your PC struggling to process transitions using native AVCHD files.

Edius will edit native AVCHD but it will not export without re rendering. Rendering AVC is a very long process even on a very powerful PC. FirecoderBlu card will render fast if that is what you want.

Project file setting is for the project NOT the input files. Edius will deal with files correctly as long as the files have the correct file properties in the bin.
