  • Imaginate- genesis for me-lost again

    Hi all,
I have owned Imaginate for some years(since Edius 3) but never used it. ( I know its not supported and long dead but the passion for it among us seems still high) so I loaded it up and started playing. My question is probably stupid, but is it only DV format?

I was disappointed with the quality of rendering, even with massive graphic images- it didn't come close to Layout in v5.5 handling the same images, and viewed via my spark HD output. I could not find any other setting than DV iterations. Great programme though, what am I missing here?

since you have E5.5, consider yourself lucky, you don't need to render at all

simply save your imaginate project and then open the IVT in the bin and drag it to timeline, stretch it longer or shorter just like a still

you can export to HD from IM2 by selecting direct show codec and then pick the 1920x1080 preset and choose your codec such as lossless or HQ

          hi Anton,
Interesting- I will have a look at that tomorrow. By the way, don't you ever get any other work done, or sleep? you are always there for us- how do you do that?
          Cheers,

              Hi Rod,

look under File..., Project Settings..., Aspect Ratio and Target With...

I think, these are the settings you are searching for.

if you open the IVT in Edius, there is no need to change any target width in Imaginate, all you need to do is set aspect to 16:9

the IVT will always call the full res stills

any other settings are only useful for Edius6 users who can't load IVT files

ah yes, I was trialling imaginate as a stand alone , not within Edius. So a bit of a blonde moment there (ok grey but I can photoshop it!) So it assumes the output settings of Edius when output is rendered from Edius right?
I will trial this properly today following your advice. Thanks to all.

leave all IM settings at default, but change aspect ratio to 16:9 if your project is 16:9

then place the IVT on timeline and it calls the original full res stills, it gives the highest quality still animation on the planet as long as you use Edius5 or earlier

but, you will need to add a YUV curve to the IVT and raise the blacks and lower the whites, because the IVT uses 0-255 levels
