  • P2 Ingest workflow

I'm sure there are definitive posts on this but cannot seem to find them.

I'm testing some kit I will be using tomorrow on a shoot with some post on Friday. It works differently from XDCam so I'm a bit confused.

What is the correct way to import P2 to get the video and audio imported together. I have only worked with P2 occassionally and never needed the audio so probably just copied and converted the video MXF files.
I have copied the Card contents to the HD?
***EDIT Just realised that the XML gives me Audio and Video

What exactly does P2 Select do?

    Three additional questions:

In P2 select I dont see all the MXF files that are in the Video Folder?
What should I select on P2 Select?
What does the green symbol represent on a clip in P2 Select indicate?

    Thanks

    DD

We use P-2 and Edius everyday. It is so easy to use. Use P-2 select to load clips into bin. You don't have to worry about audio and video, they will load into bin as a clip ready to edit. Very fast. Make sure to name your clip when loading and pointing to the right folder or just let Edius put the files in your Edius project folder. A real plus is that you can start editing before the files have been loaded to your HD. I hope this helps.

Andrew, I was worried that clips would behave like XDCam HD but it is chalk and cheese.

Tdtinker - thanks, I will have another look at P2 Select

          Click open the P2 card
          Highlight the clips you want

P2 Workflow with many users on FCP san

              Hey Ho,
We don't have any issues with p2 or xdcam, however, we have a huge issue right now about format and logging concerning many users. Has anyone out there found a solution?

Right now it's a free for all, but I'd like to get some protocol that works for multiple users

              Thanks,
              Todd

Your post doesn't say what the specific problem is. We need more info if we are to help. What is your issue with formats and logging?

It's not so much format, we can handle that.

It is group work flow that I'm having problems with. We used to be a house that shot tape, and that was fine.

We archieve everything we shoot, however, p2 has presented a problem in that we can't keep the data on the cards untill we have time to log them, thus a data dump of clips and rush to the next job.(clips with "no names")

I was wondering If any other house out there has found an better transistion to tapeless from tape.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.
