  • offline file problem!

after two moths of work with P2 files, week lay off, i didn't move any files, and now all files is offline, can't restore it. while importing i can't any more import p2 from clips folder, only from video folder and it can't see all files that i can see in P2 viewer. it is pritty big job to start all over again, even so , i will not able to import all files as edius brake apart itself. i also try to reinstall software, but nothing seams to work.

    can anyone help with this?

    thanks,
    JBK

prior to starting editing on the project, did you copy all assets to your project folder? I always create a folder inside the project folder and call it HD clips, then I copy paste all clips that will be used before I start editing

or did you leave them on an external drive? if so, the drive letter may have changed?

in your bin, it is easy to find out the path to missing thumbnails when viewing properties, once you know the path, see if it exists

      thanks for fast reply.
all files still exsist, i check it with p2 viewer.
they are in different folder from project file, but at same internal disk. in checking offline clips, when i trying to reconect it, open button is disabled.

          lets check this carefully

right click an offline clip and check the path it is pointing to, is it the correct path or wrong path? if it is the correct path, there is no point in reconnecting

it means that something needed to read P2 is no longer available

path is correct, it is pointing to xml file. i can insert the same file but as video file not xml. hope i don't need to do that.

it should not be pointing to an xml file, xml files should not be in the bin, how did they get there in the first place?

you may need to ask some P2 experts

I use XDCAM which is similar and I never ever load XML files to the bin, I don't even want to see them on my HD

but if in edius you insert video file from p2 card, it doesn't link to audio file, only if i insert xml from clip folder, then video/audio is linked.
i didn't work before with p2 files, but this method seems to be only good one.

Regardless of whether you like them or not, XML file should work from P2.

i know i should. mybe, somehow edius corrupt XML file, i don't see any other solution.
hope some software engineer from EDIUS will finally answer on this posting.........
