  • 2hours HDV project burn to BD takes 12hours encoding ?!

    Hi guys,

    It's my first thread here

All of you are very kind and helpful :D

Nice to meet you guys :D

    Here is the story,

I captured the HDV tapes with Edius, Canopus HQ codec 1920x1080 50i(PAL)(avi)

then edit it as a 1hour 40mins project

Just simple editing with 2D transition

    Then I press Shift+F11

    Video compression setting: CBR 25mbps

    Uncheck the DVD/BD menu box

Output as a BD folder (without burning BD)

It shown that require 12hours to encode !!!!!

Am I doing anything wrong ?

Thanks for the kind help :D

Does it actually took 12 hrs. or it just telling you that? let it encode and the time should drop fast, btw HDV is 1440X1080, you should stay with that instead of converting to 1920X1080, 1440X1080 is also blu-ray spec.

Open up task manager and look at perfomance and see if all CPU are running at 80% or more if so then everything is working right.

are you using Edius6.0? it exports much slower than 5

Edius 6.02 is a bit faster but still slower than 5

for fastest way, export to mpeg HD ES and then use T4 Authoring works

mpeg HD export from Edius should be almost 3 times faster than realtime

Authoring works will accept these files without further encoding

Authoring works will do fantastic menus (even popup menus) with no jaggies on any of the items or text

Also this will depend on your system specs. It could be right although I would expect that with VBR.

                  Thanks !

Choosing CBR will it be SHORTENING the encoding time ?

                  Thanks
