  • transition effect - how to

    Hi, fisrt post here :)
I've just installed the Edius 6 and it feels great. I've looked a bit on some threads over here and saw a video that was made with Edius:
    http://www.vimeo.com/12158279 (amazing!)

    my questions are:
    1. how do I make a transition effect like at 03:11?
    2. Is it the same effect like at 2:26 but just in slow motion? if yes, how do I control the effect speed please?

    TIA
    Sandra :)

Looks like a simple transition to white and back down. It's a little work in Edius to do the look but can be done. If you installed the ProDad Vitascene plugins with version 6 there is a Vitascene transition called Soft Glow Blur #98 that I use on occasion when I want that look. Give that one a try.

Otherwise let me know if you want to know how to do it in Edius. I did a tutorial a while back on how to give that look with Edius using filters and transitions but it is complicated compared to the Vitascene transition. You may have to render the Vitascene transition but they are usually short so render time will be very fast.

      Thanks for a prompt one!
NP, I can use this plugin, if it's easier then it's better for me as a beginner.

Actually, I thought that all plugins are included in Edius 6 already, I didn't know that there are 3rd party plugins like : ProDad Vitascene plugins. Is it worth the $150 they want?

Are there any "must have" plugins I should get to make my life easier?

Actually there were some Vitascene plugins that came with Edius 6 for free. If you purchased Edius 6 CD in a box there should be a CD of Bonus material. They are on that disc. On the ProDad site there are lots more additional effects and stuff you can purchase but this free set will get you started pretty good. I've never needed more than what was included for free but that's all based on your style and workflow.

There was also a nice little collections of VideoEssential filters from NewBlueFX for free with Edius....and some VST audio filters too. Make sure to get all that installed. There may be a few small patches for some of the plugins that need to be installed to and those can be found on the Grass Valley download section where you registered your software.
