Edius 4.51c Crashing!!!

I installed 4.51 (up from 4.2) (on NX system) and have found that most of my projects CRASH (mostly TVCs)

When I play or scroll the time line Edius crashes. This may happen immediately or after a few minutes.

Are there any know installation problems?

I have re-installed Edius from scratch twice with no luck.

Has anyone got any ideas? It’s become desperate as I now have had to canceled edits with some very upset clients.

does the project contain TM Pro titles?

2 things that could cause problems at the moment Tmpro titles and vst plugin.
If your project contains vst plugins please delete them from all the clips. and I mean all the clips.

BTw Edius 5 is not out yet that could also be a problem. :)

The projects that cause it to crash don't have VST plugins applied to them and there is no Title Motion clips.

But I do have VST plug ins installed. Could that do it?

I have uninstalled 4.51c and gone back to 4.24. Everything is working fine again.

But there are some traces of 4.51c left in some menus etc.

To get 4.51c working should I do another re-install? How do you completely clear the system (Windows) of any of the old files? I’m stating to think this may be part of my crashing problem.

You have to cleare entries in XP registry searching 'edius' and 'canopus' (with extreme care).
Check C:\drive for any folders named 'canopus' or 'edius': delete those that refer to Edius only.
Reinstall Edius 4.51c.

Edius 4.5c crashes BIG-TIME right after startup

Hi,

I must say I was relieved to see that at least someone has the same problem as I do. I had no troubles whatsoever with Edius NX and Edius 4.42 until I upgraded to 4.5c. It ALWAYS crashes right after the screen where you can change the profile, create a new project, ets. I NEVER get to start using the program, because it crashes. According to the Windows error message the cvezshal.dll module is the culprit. I have a SuperMicro PDSGE MoBo (certified by canopus), Pentium D 3,2 GHz and a Radeon X850 XT graphics board. Gave great real-time performance with 4.24 ! I even tried a GeForce 8800GT to no avail. Me to, I had to uninstall 4.5c and re-install 4.24. Works fine now.
Anyone got a clue ???

Year OK so I can’t type… I can’t smell either.

But what’s not funny is my inability to get a stable install of 4.51c.

I just re-built my OS with nothing but Edius (and Quicktime etc. all other needed stuff)… 4.24 runs great… 4.5 just won’t work. I load a job with no TMP or VST and it crashes as soon as you play the time line or some times scroll the bins.

What has changed internally with 4.5 so much as to cause these problems for many people.

Let's not forget folks... I have another thread (which hasn't been responded to as far as I know) that clearly demontrates that Quick Titler related files also have crashing problems. So there can clearly be instability in this area as well.

I think I have found the problem...

I have just spent a few hours trying to find out why 4.5 crashes for us. From what I can tell there is a failure in the ctstitlerender.dll This is part of QuickTitler. Basically most titles generated in 4.24 are not compatible with 4.5. Especially if you have loaded a graphic into your 4.24 QuickTitle (eg a background) Edius 4.51 will crash.

I have tried to re-save titles before it crashes but it beats me. I also tried re-naming the folder the titles are stored in so Edius would need to find them again, but this makes thing worse.

I also think that the problems Titlemotion Pro are similar. Windows tells me ctstitlerender.dll has logged an error.

I for one will have to return to 4.24 until they fix all of these rather bad errors as my machine is getting messed up bad with all these crashes an re-installs.

4.5c also crashes without Titler

Hi folks,

There are also people out here with a crashing Edius 4.5c who don't even get to the point of trying Titler. In my system cvezshal.dll causes the crash (according to the Windows error message).
Canopus HELP please !
