E5.51: XDCAM EX import suddenly broken

Customer always used the following method for bringing XDCAM EX clips into Edius:

1. Opened a new Edius project
2. Started Sony XDCAM EX browser
3. Drag and drop the wanted clips from the Sony explorer window into the Edius bin

SUDDENLY the imported clips are all distorted. Instead of seeing the actual video the customer only sees a chess board with red and white fileds when he wants to play back the files?!

When he imports the clips directly from the actual folder than everything plays fine. The clips also play fine in the Sony browser preview.

Anyone seen something like this? Any help welcome. TIA!

Clip Browser went wonky here once, I simply re installed it and it cleared up the problem - are you using CB 2 by the way?

Same here, try a re install, you never know, it might just fix it!

Further observation:

Installed the latest Sony Browser:

XDCAM Browser
Version: 1.10 1.1.0.231
Last Update: 2010/12/16

Same behaviour: ClipBrowser works fine, direct file import works fine, drag and drop from browser to bin gives 'chess board' file. Clips which are inserted in the timeline have a 'X' mark. Never seen this before.

Apart from my initial problem: has anyone else ever seen a 'red and white chess board' like clip in Edius? When an offline clip is played back you see a black and white chess board. But red and white?! Confused...

Never seen that problem, the only problem I had was when I updated to Edius v6.02, the Sony Clip Browser (v2.6) no longer worked and had to be re-installed. After that it worked fine.

maybe, you are create "proxy" files >> with your drag/drop ??

Hi, it has nothing to do with the proxy mode. The chess board effect is visible in the player and recorder window, alos when looking at the clip properties.
