This is classic phrase for "we don't want to" .
    You want example?

"FrieCoder Blu can not render level 4.1 H.264, it is not possible" .
Well, it is possible I use it via third party program, they just didn't want to do it.

Correct, but there's more than just 5.1 editing, so there are scenarios when editing 8 independent channels is useful, especially in broadcast situations.

    Andrew
Yes, that's what I posted, that the HD Spark control panel has an option between sending 8 channels or two channels, however, when selecting 2 channels, 8 channels are still sent through the HDMI cable, it's just that 6 of those channels have no audio. They do have a signal, but completely mute. The problem is the receiver still detects 8 channels, so it doesn't allow Dolby ProLogic IIx to engage, it just shows PCM and it shows the mapping on the display as if it was receiving a 7.1 audio signal. In other words, it shows exactly the same as if you were to put a Blu-Ray that is authored with 7.1 PCM audio.

I'm not even sure why the capability for 8 channels is included. I mean, as far as I can tell, Edius only edits in stereo or mono, it doesn't have 5.1 editing like Vegas, Premiere or FCP. You can work with 6 channels if you want, but you can only pan between left and right, not between LF, RF, SL, SR and Center. Am I wrong in this? Can you pan between 5 channels in Edius?

There is a reason I asked for that screenshot.
    Lets leave it at that.

Take a screen shot and please post it.

What you have done on the timeline is irrelevant at this point.

You mean what channel is mapped to what output? It's a simple sequence with an AV track and the title track, no other audio or video tracks. The footage is AVCHD coming from either a Sony HDR-AX2000, a Canon HF100 or a Panasonic HMC40, all of them stereo AC3.

started a topic 2ch selected, HD Spark still sends 8 Ch

2ch selected, HD Spark still sends 8 Ch

I don't know if this is exactly an Edius issue, or an HD Spark one. In the HD Spark's control panel, under HDMI audio output settings, you can select either "8 Ch" or "Monitor 2 Ch". Even though I have "2 Ch" selected and the project is only 2 channels stereo, the card still sends 7.1 channels through the HDMI output, when I would prefer if it sent two channels, that way the receiver could use Dolby ProLogic IIx to create 5.1 the same way it will do when I finish the project and burn to BD or AVCHD.

Since it's sending 7.1 channels to the receiver, even though 6 channels don't carry any audio, the receiver thinks it's a real 7.1 track and it doesn't allow Dolby to engage.

Is there a way to make the HD Spark or do anything in Edius to make it send two channels only?
