I think the customers who bought E6 would be happy when it finally happens.
I still wonder why Edius can't have update packets like Adobe of even Microsoft software ? They get emergency fixes when needed, why can't Edius ?
It's not rocket sience, just software !

I wouldn't put Adobe in that bunch. Look at Encore. I had one update the entire run of CS3 and then again for CS4. Even though, there were many issues users were having.

I have CS5 encore & premiere but never use them, I use photoshop CS5 & lightroom 3 pretty much daily, so far no issues :) and they do get packets every now and then.

I will turn off autosave.. I bet that was one of the issues.. I also used DRIVER SWEEPER to make SURE I removed all the old nvidia drivers.. then loaded standard VGA (let windows autodetect) then reinstalled the latest nvidia drivers... EDIUS is the only program giving me trouble.

On all my systems auto save is set to OFF, many years ago I have acostumed myself to CTRL+S after any labor intensive work, being it with Edius or any other software, as I worked on less than stable equipment at my previous jobs.

If your workstation is properly build, Edius (5.51) will not crash, not once.
If your systems has issues you might want to take a better look where the problem is introduced, window 7 is prone to temporarily freeze with faulty hardware and / or corrupt or wrongly installed drivers, make sure the foundation (your hardware & O.S.) is stable then so will be Edius (and others).

The makers of CS software are bashed on many forums yet it doesn't crash on my 2 systems, why could this be ..................
Autosave is a very good idea in my book. I'll let you find out why yourself.

My systems are all the latest Z800's - we also have som iCores testing. There is nothing wrong with our system hardware, as it happens on all systems.

My guess is some Win 7 defaults causing Edius 6 to stutter - 6.01 is better than v. 6.0.

Do you work for adobe? Please don't try to look like an experienced editor and go on about Adobe Premiere - it's not becoming :D

Im running 6.01... BUT if there is a KNOWN issue with the autosave, then I want to disable it or increase the save time. Autoesave is good because it recovered my project when the program froze (now I have a lot more). I bet it was autosave because when I was playing back the timeline, it froze, then I saw the hard drive light come on (not the one were the project is being worked on) and then finally the light went off and then it started to play again.

Wowwww hold your horses, if you can read you clearly have an advantage !
I was only giving an example of software update practices, not using the actual software, but then again, you didn't really read the entire post now did you :)

Ok... This si NOT a normal problem as you can tell from others not jumping in and saying it is happening to them also.

I have to agree with the others here, Video Editing software is very complicated and doing an upgrade to any windows format from another is risky at best.

I would do a clean install. It is ALWAYS better than upgrading.

if you work on large projects autosave can become Pretty annoying, you only want to save when needed and not in the middle of adjusting an effect.
CTRL + S does exactly like autosave, save the project, but at the time it's not interfearing.
I have been doing it since Edius 1.0 and trust me, it works fine like that.

Actually there was depending on the enviroment. Nothing like the times being talked about here but there was.

There have been more than enough wise words been writing in this thread, it's time for me to switch to passive mode and will see where this is going.
To the o.p. I think it's time to call tech support, or do the obvious, format C:

                              The ball is yours ...........

I had a similar problem as you, and it turned out the problem was that I had Windows Aero turned on with Edius 6 and the two weren't getting along. Try this: right click on your Edius 6 icon and select Properties. Then select the Compatibility tab, and click "Disable Desktop Composition". Hopefully that will solve your problem.
