One of the tapes I capture (using Edius and ADVC 300) is damaged and it has lots of drops and no signal spots. Is there any way to setup Edius not to stop in every case. I would like to capture entire tape as is and then review it and pick small pieces (whatever possible). I already set my System Settings for Capture to Add Marker for any of the Capture Event, however the problems I'm seeing on the tape are much bigger so Edius always stops. Any idea?

I cannot see and option to "not to stop on frame drop"
My other "Automatic Detection of Capture Events" are already set like this:
At Timecode Break - CHECKED
When Aspect Ratio Changes - CHECKED
When Sampling Rate Changes - CHECKED
When the Recorded Time Data Changes - CHECKED
then...
"When an Event is Detected" the "Add Marker" is CHECKED and "Divide Files is UNCHECKED.Comment

everything you have CHECKED needs to be UNCHECKED
what version Edius do you have?
in E5, CHECK skip errors and continue capture

I thought so too...but I tried that before and the same happens. Actually if I uncheck everything the entire section of the setup gets disabled and I cannot anymore do anything to "When Event is Detected" section.
I'm on Edius 6. It is so not clear in the documentation.Comment

technically speaking, the new option to add markers at file problems should work but it appears capture stops instead
maybe it is your firewire driver?Anton Strauss

As Edius does not seem to be able to capture the video have you tried another capture program, even though I now use Edius I do have Premiere on my editing PC and that works very well and I still prefer it for SD capture.
Another option..........Do you have a DV camcorder with either analogue or firewire recording capabilities? i.e does the camcorder work with recording the editing timeline? Certainly here in the UK only certain high end MiniDV/full DV camcorders have their firewire ports functioning both out and in.
If you do have such a camcorder then record the Hi8 video onto your DV camcorder and then capture that.
Years ago I captured all my old Standard 8 and Hi8 video onto MiniDV tapes, now that even more years have passed and I only have one MiniDV camcorder and even that is ten years old I am in the process of capturing all the MiniDV tapes that I have onto a 2Tb hard disc, 38 tapes down and a lot more to go.Comment

The best thing I've found for old Hi-8 tapes is to use a Digital-8 camcorder or deck and capture via firewire and ScenalyzerGA-EP45C-DSR3,Core2Q3ghz,8gig1066,260GTX,2x 20"AOC,22"Vizio1080pTV, Edius5/HDspark,PC3,Imaginate, CS5ProdStudio/IntensityPro,Win7_64
