  • Captured HDV with Edius 3.61 - convert to m2t?

I am using 3.61 (momentarily, until I install 4.5). I have captured HDV from my Canon HV20. Can I change the captured footage format from .avi to .m2t?

    Thanks.

Are you wanting to capture the native M2T data from the HV20? (no conversion to AVI)

If you want to do this, just capture the footage from the external MPEGcapture program, from the Start menu. You will see the MPEG M2T capture option in the settings menus.

Thanks. Since I have already captured the footage, is there an easy way to convert the .avi to m2t without recapturing? What format is the .avi data in?

Once I install 4.51+, do I have to use the external MPEGcapture program?

      Thanks for your help.

Honestly, I think that's your quickest and easiest solution, since encoding to HDV M2T is extremely time consuming. Not to mention that you'd be recompressing footage that would otherwise be untouched if simply recaptured.

Canopus HQ - nice high quality codec purpose-built for realtime HD resolution editing.

No, in 4.51 it is all built into EDIUS, and you simply choose which format to capture to. And if you capture as native M2T, you can always right-click any of the clips and convert them to Canopus HQ if needed - much easier!

Thanks for answering all of my questions. Looking forward to playing with 4.51.
