  • Edius 5 reinstall error problem

I had a fresh XP format done to my "C" drive and now need to reinstall Edius 5.

I have the dongle in a USB slot and the Hasp is recognized when I look at the hardware. I can start the install normally which accepts the V5 serial number (and the required V4 serial number ).

Part way through the installation it stops with an error message: Infinity Ingest.exe Cannot find file...and this is repeatable at the same spot.

Any ideas on how to get past this?

Is it correct to have the dongle in the computer before starting the installation?

the dongle is not required until you want to apply updates

I am not sure what that error means, maybe you have not updated XP to SP3 yet?

Strange. I downloaded latest quicktime, and then removed the dongle. It loaded in. Yay!
I am now updating to 5.1 and then to 5.5 and will back in business.

I updated the dongle as suggested. I tried to load in 5.51, but got snagged at asking me to remove some XD.exe loader file, which I declined.

The message you are getting usually means that you have XDCAM Browser running in the background (look down in your task bar). Unless you do something to prevent it, it opens every time you open Edius. Close it and then try the update.

                Same problem

Was glad to find someone with similar (exact) problem I am having. Sorry shouldn't be happy to see anyone having problems. GLAD to see someone could fix the error on "installation it stops with an error message: Infinity Ingest.exe Cannot find file". I installed Quicktime first from the web (latest version), then uninstalled and installed the 7.5 version on the installation DVD.

Unfortunately it still stops at exactly that spot and then if say OK aborts the install. We need this for a charity holiday show I'm putting together so any help would be greatly appreciated. Actually any help is always greatly appreciated. I'm trying to install this on an XP pro OS with SP3 installed. Since this seems to be for installing links to the Infinity camcorder, which we don't have, if I can just get past and not install that component think it would be OK too. Thanks in advance!

Seeing as this sounds like it has some urgency, have you opened a support ticket with Grass Valley support?

I wasn't sure if they would ask me to post on the forum and/or use the knowledge base. I have done both of those so now will also take this suggestion to contact support directly. Thanks.

Both forum and knowledgebase run "on their own" for the most part, so for anything that needs immediate attention and/or requires RMA/service, opening a support ticket is essential. :)

Resolved - heres another tip for others

Good news .. resolved this kind of indirectly.. we are shooting some interviews on what "Hanukkah","Christmas", holidays mean so wanted some lite background music. Saw the sound card was not working since had not reinstalled the drivers for it. Reinstalled drivers, turned on Christmas music, and gave the install another shot.. MERRY CHRISTMAS it sailed through the offending part. So remember to play holiday music during your re-installs or at least reinstall all your cards/applications drivers if you've wiped a drive or had one crash or are bringing up a new system.
