  • DVD & Blu-ray burning in Edius 6

    Hi
I would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas
Re DVD and Blu-ray burning in Edius 6
When is the problem of not being able to burn discs in Edius 6 going to be fixed ?
One of the reasons for purchasing Edius 6 was to have this function I do not want to spend more money having to purchase a DVD Blu-ray burning programme It would be nice to be able to complete a project with a finished dics from Edius
    Regards
    Chris

        Works Ok here
No I don't know how to get sound onto the menu but both still and motion menu's work and playback
I only use this for a quick check before committing to authoring though

I can see one possibility. create a 30 second .avi file with a music bed. then bring it in the menu and see if you have sound and a moving background. Not sure about this because my 6.0 copies have not arrived. I had hoped for both moving backgrounds and sound in making DVDs and BD-Rs in 6.x.

          Anyone else have an idea?

            Hi

Re Blu-ray This dose not work at all the menus wont work when played in a Blu-ray player
There are several threads about this problem on this Forum
I hope Grass Valley are aware of this and trying to fix it
As for me the disc burning from Edius 6 is unusable

              dvd burning edius 6

Hi everybody! My question might look, and probably is, more stupid and simple then the others in this thread. How can I burn a DVD with edius 6? I tried the BD tool, i also made the folder that it requested for the image file, and i already ruined a blank DVD... so the question again: How to burn a dvd?
Btw the footage is HD, but what I need is an SD dvd, with a proper menu, playable on every kind of computer and DVD player, the quality should be the best possible, without needing to go Blu-Ray.
Normally I would export a Canopus Lossless Avi, convert it to .VOB or something like that, and burn it with Nero, but that takes a long time and the quality is much inferior to the original footage than it should be.
Any kind of help would be appreciated! Thanks!

You need to change the project settings to be DVD compliant. Another option is to export a DVD-compliant MPEG file (by enabling conversion), and then loading that into DVD Creator.

                  dvd

pardon my ignorance, but how do exactly do that? I mean what settings do I need? and will the result be better than if I do my normal procedure: export from edius in Canopus Lossless avi, convert with Pro Coder to Vob, and burn? Thank you or your help!

                        yes, it works the same

but Edius6 has a few extra options, but they are currently broken, so just follow my tutorial

                          dvd

thanks again, but it doesnt work, the only option I have in the "disc "burner" tool is write, I don't have all those tabs and all those other options, any idea why is that?

you are accessing the writer tool from program files, that won't work

you need to choose burn to disk from within Edius, it is part of the export button on the timeline preview monitor

every button with down arrows has further options

I must be annoying and I'm sorry for that, BUT -for some reason, even though I do everything as in your tutorial, I can't even click "burn to disc" - any idea why not?
