    Let's see now...

Did it work in the system and environment you had it installed in?

Because seriously, we can't tell the future. We have no idea what the future holds in OSes, CPU architecture, etc. 9 years is a long time in the computer industry. We've gone from Windows 98 and NT to Vista.

Things change, and there's only so far you can drag along old designs and technology. Just like you're upgrading your OS, you end up doing the same with your hardware. That's just the pace of technology.

So you honestly expect a computer product that is over 10 years old to work just as well today? There is nothing in my studio computer related that is that old. I am assuming it worked when you bought it? Then it would have paid for itself hundreds of times over. I wish everything worked as long as my old Canopus boards have.

hmm... 10 years and still bugs

I hardly thing any businessman would say they are cutting their own throat for not doing so.

The Rex is more than 10 years old....

The DVStorm has been discontinued. It's still a great card.

Since they are discontinued products, it means that Grass Valley does not have the resources to develop drivers for them because they are discontinued.

If you want a Storm equivalent, get an NX and upgrade your computer.

If you want a Rex equivalent, get an SP and upgrade your computer.

Hi, I was about to purchase Edius 4.5 for use with my DVRexRT and DVStorm systems. I am glad I visited this forum. Saved me hundreds of dollars... Disappointed Canopus... I will check back though... I hope this issue is resolved. Updating since version one...

Always bugs, issues and general improvements with software updates...

Canopus cutting its own throat here... and one source of revenue...

What??? no more support for REX / Storm and vista drivers??? ....

But with an SP or NX card, you can capture to a lossless codec or Canopus HQ instead of DV only on the RexRT from an analog source (NX supports upto S-Video IN, SP supports Component IN)...so that's another upside :)

I will lay odds that once you view HD files across that sp it will be hard to use the Rex in SD. I found that to be the case a couple of years ago.

    Thanks for this.
This is a big bug for me and i need this to work, did try last night and it did not work, I did not have much time so i put the 4,24 back on the system so i can keep on working.
My best to you and your friend

It would be nice if it worked but please know this is no bug. The Rex has not been supported for years now and up to this point the drivers were pretty much left alone.

But with the Vista compliance being a priority I doubt we will see Storm support in the future either.

Now, I own all of these products and would LOVE for them to last forever BUT... I have to be realistic... the Rex is around 10 years old. Please look at all of computer equipment and you will see that there is NOTHING that is 10 years old that is worth keeping (to me).

The fact that the Rex has lasted this long is one of the reasons I always liked Canopus... they just keep going and going!

I do understand your feelings on this but please know things had to stop somewhere... the Rex is old technology and it had to happen one day that updating the drivers was not feasible.

Just like me. I too would pay for the drivers until HD, at which point i'd probably go for the NX.

The reason i want to continue using the RexRT is the fact its a solid card and has a great external breakout box.

But I do give Canopus a thumbs up for keeping the card going for so long.
