clearly GV has disabled support for this hardware. All previous versions of Edius worked great with my REXRT. no workie in 4.5 or 4.51
Are you able to uninstall the Canopus DV driver from add/remove programs?
Mine won't remove from the list even though it looks like in completes the uninstall process (prompting a reboot).

If you'd done a fresh install of XP, with the hardware board inside without any prior drivers installed, the installer will almost certainly not see the DVRex RT board.
If you look at the supported hardware list on the download page, there is no sign of DVRex RT.

Okay, but when I installed the 4.51 update on my laptop it gives me a choice to install the DV drivers and in that list is the DVRex. Obviously I don't have a DVRex in my laptop. And supported can mean two things... tech support in case of issues and the other working with said hardware. I understand that tech support is no longer available, understandable given it's age. But, the DV driver should not have changed so much as to not allow the DVRex to work since the last made driver for EDIUS 3. I have not tried it out myself on my Rex-RT machine but will start with 3.61 drivers first and see how things progress.John Glantz

As I suspected.
Folks: RX-E1 IS NOT DVREX, DVREX M1, DVREX RT OR DVREX RT PROFESSIONAL!
If you ever see "RX-E1" it is referring to the SDI-based hardware included in our turnkeys.
More specifically:
Canopus DV Driver = DVRaptor RT2, DVStorm, EDIUS DVX/DVStorm XA
HX-E1/E2 = EDIUS NX, EDIUS SP
RX-E1 = SDI I/O boards (either SD or HD/SD, with or without the HDBX1000 MIP)
Hopefully this clears it up once and for all.

Indeed, but this is what would happen (and I think is what is happening).
In your situation, because the system does not detect any hardware, none of the hardware options are checked - this is normal. The installer looks for components that are already installed/out of date to install over the top of.
If you had a system with a DVRex already installed, there's a good chance that the "Canopus DV Driver" box might have been checked. Clicking through, you may be presented with a secondary hardware device selection screen - again, the installer is meant to look at what's inside the PC. If it found a DVRex already installed, it might list it (and even checkmark it). This however, only shows that the installer recognised the hardware. It doesn't mean that any driver (HAL DLL) is packaged to support DVRex-RT as an output device in EDIUS v4.5.
The short answer, and hopefully final answer - DVRex RT is not supported under EDIUS v4.5x - if you somehow manage to hack it so it works, it certainly will be an impressive task...and completely unsupported by Grass Valley.
