  • EDIUS 6 - Doesn't batch capture

I did all the steps required to batch capture. Set IN\OUT points and added to batch capture list. When I press "Capture", it doesn't rewind the tape to start capturing. I tried with the tape at the beginning and at the end. Both ways don't work. How do you batch capture?

With all the reports coming in on Edius v6, I am very glad that I have not installed it to date, only wish that I could get a refund on the upgrade though, as it promised so much but has delivered well below most peoples expectations. Maybe, when it happens, (not holding my breath though on current form) with the v6.1 release, AND it fixes ALL the current, serious problems (such as the layouter, lack of NX support etc) the mass of users will again be pleased with Edius 6.

What deck are you using and how is it connected?

I'm capturing right from the camera itself. Panasonic AG-DVC200 via firewire. Capturing works fine. It's just the batch capture that doesn't function.

Can you control the camera from the Monitor?

Yes, I can. It also shows the video in the windows and can also capture fine. It's just the batch capture that doesn't work.

Hmm. Unfortunately I'm not much help. Sounds like maybe some timing or timecode is off somehow.

I tried different options like from the end of the tape, from the beginning, from the middle... I don't think it's a timecode issue. Thanks anyhow for trying.

Since we don't have AG-DVC200 to test I will foward this to QA and ask them if they can have a look.

Is the camera DV/DVCAM or DVCPRO?

Does EDIUS see the proper timecode on the monitor?

                      The AG-DVC200 is a dv camcorder with IEEE1394 .

I will test batch capture as soon as I can capture (have no drivers for my card)

I can't even capture via firewire because the only firewire is on my card and it does not work due to missing driver

I've just tried to capture from DV for the first time on my new system with Edius 6 using a Sony DCR-TRV900E camcorder via MoBo firewire having made a device preset set for generic OHCI.

I had the same problem - full deck control, timecode normal but batch capture did nothing - no tape rewind & no capture.

The problem went away after I restarted my PC.

I had tried to do everything in one session - Windows detecting the camcorder as a new device and installing its driver, setting the OHCI preset in Edius and then trying to batch capture. I think that the driver hadn't fully 'taken' until after a reboot, just like in the old days!
