  • 4.5 Buffers

No, this has nothing to with the average family having 2.4 children, but maybe it could be due to an early onset of senility!

On my two E4.51 instalations I get lower buffer rating in practice than that selected in the settings menue. PC1 has 3GB RAM and with the buffer set to 512 I get 169, whilst on PC2, which has 2GB RAM, I get 165. Reducing the buffers to 128 on either machine results in only 41; in all instances the achieved buffer is about 1/3 that of the selected buffer size. Both instalations reached the maximum of 96 before the upgrade.

    Any ideas, anyone.

With Canopus only a couple of minutes from you pop in there and pose them the problem.

It is very simple the 512 are sd projects and the 169 are HD projects.
HD frames are bigger so you can put less frames in the same memory space.

Notice that the new RT settings are expressed in MB of RAM put aside for RT buffers and not frames as it was before.
