  • ProCoder Express ac3?

I am unable to find ac3 output in DVD section of PCE

    my version is 3.01.13.00

maybe the installer failed to install the new version which is supposed to have ac3?

    Anton,

I think pc3 and dvd creator have the ac3 option.

But you can also use the AC3 audio exporter from the export list

the problem is that PC3 produces strange ac3 audio, don't want to trust it until there is a patch to get rid of the big Endian encoding

the ac3 exporter in 4.5 produces correct ac3 audio, so does the mpeg exporter, but the mpeg exporter has limited options and no elementary streams

I just burned my 1st DVD from Edius. Very nice! AC3 audio too.
The menus are as basic as promosed, but functional. The encoding looks good to me and all the menu buttons worked as expected. I did have to change some of the menu thumbnails to somthing more suitable, but the chapters were as the markers placed them. The marker info also followed from Edius to the DVD menus!

        Well done, Rusty

PCE doesn't do AC3, as Steve stated. I think that PCE is done by the same guys who do ProCoder, so GV doesn't want to contract them for a new version of PCE with this feature? (Just a guess)

when I read the new features list, I assumed that it would as it states the following:

              New Output Options

              * Export to DVD with menus
              * Dolby Digital export

AC3 is an "EDIUS-native" exporter, meaning it lives as an entry in the Print to File list. It's also available in the Print to DVD authoring applet.

What's wrong with AC3 out of Procoder 3? Are we not able to "trust" it yet?

I don't trust it because it uses a Big Endian Byte order format that no other ac3 encoders out there use

and if I mix existing ac3 encoded with Tmpeg and PC3 ac3 on the same DVD, then one or the other will be silent

Edius 4.51 ac3 exporter does not use Big Endian Byte order and as a result works perfect

                    I will wait for a PC3 patch

Hey Anton, is it true that the "DVD Preview Target" option when using AC3, the resulting AC3 is low in the dB level? Someone mentioned this.

yes, the ac3 exporter in PC3 under system is way low, don't use

Don't have PC3, but was interested in the Grid Encoding because my system is super fast now.

                          Thanks for the heads up
