  • Can not print to tape

I want to put a clip from my timeline onto tape.
The clip is 1440x1080 59.9 and my deck is an HDV deck which supports 1080i.
When I go to 'print to tape' I keep getting--

'There is no output preset to match the project settings
    Frame rate 1440x1080'

I tried to create a preset in Hardware/device settings which I made 1440x1080.
This is new to me so I am a bit confused.

Set the second tab of the device preset to not select and try again.

You have to render your timeline to HDV first, go into export, find HDV and render it, then go into capture and find TSwriter and use that to print the file to your HDV deck.

Thanks I did as you both suggested but again I get this--
          See attachment.
Now the deck can see SD video no problem. Its the HD video that is the issue. The deck will only see simple HDV 1080i and DV 480i so it should be quite straight forward.
What do I put for the Output H/W format settings?

On a separate issue, when I hit pg down or pg up, it does not take me to the next/past edit point like the keyboard did using Edius 5. I am running Edius 6.01.

Your aspect ratio is wrong and you need to use the mpeg writer. Also make sure that your deck is set to HDV
            The output 1440

No device comes up on the Mpeg TS writer. I have no idea what you are talking about. Please be a little more detailed.

Make sure that your deck is set to HDV input, make sure that your timeline is 1440X1080i, click on F11, find hdv export and render your timeline, after you have render your timeline to HDV using exporter, click on Capture/mpegTS writer, load your file in and it should work.
BTW there are no 1920X1080i HDV, that is not HDV spec, it is 1440X1080i.

Yes I know HDV is 1440x1080. Who said anything about 1920? I exported the 1440x1080 clip into HDV exporter and then I click tools/MpegTS writer load the file, thats where I go no farther. All controls are grayed out and there is nothing I can do.

I am beginning to think that it is a deck problem.
I am going to check the driver and see if that helps.
Edius in not seeing the deck and if its anything like Avid I will have to turn on and off and see if a driver is working..and just keep playing with it.
                    Thanks for the software solutions.

Not to hijack and old thread but I need to get this tape in to someone in a few hours and i can't export. i made the HDV m2t file. I load TS writer, and I see no device. I have my sony Z5U connected to the DV line and it just doesn't show up as a device... but if I try to capture it works. I have a Sony DSR11 but it isn't HDV so I figured just use the Z5U. My screen looked just like the screen shot before... no drop down for device selection... any ideas?

The obvious thing to check is that the Z5 or whatever HDV capable device you use is set to HDV not AUTO or DV. Simple Test : Can you capture HDV as HDV from the Z5?
