  • Problems with video image on preview window

    Hi,

I´ve just installed v4.5 for Edius. I use DV Raptor RT2 in my system.

When I play a video, no image will be displayed on the preview window.

All I get is the sound.

When I stop the video, the current frame appears on the preview window, disappearing as soon as I play the video back again.

What can I do to sort out the problem?

    Thanks.

Can you tell us what your Hardware Settings are for DVRaptor RT2? You can find this under the "Settings" menu.

Hardware settings for DV Raptor RT2

      Video Standard: PAL
      RT Buffers: 160 frames
Use cueup command if DV deck has: not selected

      DV Format: DV
      Setup Level: (Nothing selected)
      SyncRec Start Timing: 5
      SyncRec End Timing: -5
      Record Position: 0

Video Display Type: DirectDraw Overlay (Edius will not allow me to change this setting)
Updated Period: Fram (Edius will not allow me to change this setting)
Overlay Refresh: None (I have tried the other options on this one but won´t make any difference)

Ok, everything appears correct there, so we now look to the video card - what chipset does it use?

Before we get into too many things, let me ak the obvious. Did you downlaod 4.51 from the US site or 4.5 from Japan? The Jp DL was for software only.

            download version and videocard chipset

            Hi,

I downloaded the file from canopus.com, this must be the US site.

I have a Gainward with nvidia 6800 gt chipset.

I updated the NVIDIA driver on my system and that solved it for me.

                Hi,

I had the latest drivers 162.18 already installed. Just in case I did reinstall them and still have the same problem.

Please add a color clip to the Bin, and put that in the timeline. That will eliminate the problem being with the footage.

For some weird reason, I have done exactly what you mention on your message, which is exactly the same I was doing before, and it works now.

I wonder if having reinstalled the graphic drivers, plus having restarted the PC has made it.

                    Thanks.

If I send the video clip directly to the preview window, it won't show up.

I guess I can survive without that for the time being, but this must be definitely a problem within Edius.

Do you have multiple monitors? Since you are using DVRaptor-RT, overlay is only guaranteed to work on the Primary monitor.

Also, you should disable "spanned desktop" mode and let Windows see and manage each monitor individually.

I always have the same problem when I open after effects and edius at the same time. I have dual monitors and the clip doesn't show up in the preview window (2nd monitor) until I close after effects. Then everything is back to normal. I guess some programs interfere with it...

No, I only use one monitor.
