  • MP4 on MediaEdge 2

I'm using Edius 5.51 on WinXP to create files for MediaEdge2.
I can make mpg files work, but was wondering if MediaEdge2 will play mp4 files, or is that only MediaEdge4?
(I can make the files & upload them to MediaEdge2; I just can't play them as content...)

    Thanks,
    Neil.

ME 2 (MediaEdge 2) doesn't have support for MPEG-4 file playout through either the set-top boxes or the SWT software client. ME 3 can play non-H.264 MPEG-4 files, though EDIUS 5.x doesn't have an encoding profile for that purpose (at least, I don't think it does...).

ME 4 is based heavily around H.264 MPEG-4 encoding and delivery, mostly because it is so bandwidth-friendly, and the encoding targets built into EDIUS v5.x are there specifically for ME 4 and its handling of H.264 MPEG-4 files.

If you want to make content for your ME2 system to play, then you will need to stick to MPEG-2.
