  • Training for Layouter

    Hi,

I trying to decide if I can use V6 when it comes out. I think I could use Quick title, I use TM Pro right now. So titles should not be a problem.

I do use and need to use something like Imaginate 2. Most of my IM moves are simple. Just a pan across the photo, or a zoom in or out. Sometimes a use a 3D look. I know that I can still export a AVI file, but I'm timing to music and sometimes need to make adjustment in length of the clip, without loosing any footage. In IM, the movement just goes a little faster or slower. No loss of footage.
I was trying to use the clip layout tool in V5.5, but just can not get the hang of it. Is there a training video I can watch, on how the Layout tool works?
Can the Layout tool work like IM2?

    Thanks
    Bob

Not fully. Layouter is not a replacement for Imaginate 2 but it is closer than the layout tool was.

I never used the .ivp method. I have always created clips and then back-timed for feature. Just create a long enough clip and you will have no problem.
Also, if you use this on another machine, that clip can be used there as well and that would also include any alpha back that was created.
You still can't create an alpha channel from .ivp without a workaround.

Layout tool is powerful, and easy to use, here is the basic:
click on show keyfram and check the enable keyframe
then drag your playhead to the beginning of the clip
in the Stretch window, make sure that preserved frame aspect is checked, hold down your left mouse on the x or y % and drag up or down, this will make it smaller or bigger, put your mouse on the preview window and left mouse drag to position your picture, now drag the keyframe to the end of the clip and repeat the process, you can also right mouse click on the keyframe node to change mode like linear, bezier...
