  • Edius Player will not Display Video clip

Hi, I am using Edius 4.6 and the StormBay. I successfully captured a bunch of clips from an old 8mm camcorder through the StormBay. (I noticed that when I was capturing the video it would show only on the LCD of the camcorder and my external monitor connected to the Output of the StormBay, but did not display in the Edius record window, didn't think anything of that.) Now that I want to edit these clips, if I load a clip from the BIN into the player and hit the play button a single frame freezes in the player, then the clip continues to play and I can see it playing in an external monitor, but I can't get the video to play in the player window no matter what I have tried. Same thing if I load the clip into the timeline - it play on the external TV monitor but not in the Player. It's probably something really stupid I am overlooking.
    Would appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks

Ah ha, "Overlay" that's the key. It's coming back to me now. I checked the settings and they looked good, so I figure it must be a video card issue.
I went into the setting for the Nvidia video card and sure enough Overlay was turned OFF. All I had to do was turn it on and restart Edius. and Bingo, it's working again. Now all I need to do is figure out how the overlay got turned off in the first place.

Thanks so much for the hint that put me on the right track.
