    TMP

If I recall correctly, for those of us that upgraded from Edius 4, we needed to use the TMP disc from Edius 4 in order to run the Edius 5 version of TMP. So I'm going to assume that we are included in the Edius 6 upgrade path to TMP, correct?

This is great new for us TM Pro users. As a V5.5 user, it was said I still would have $299. upgrade price, even after the end of the year. If I wait until to upgrade to V6, say in June or 2011, am I going to loose the TM patch?

Question #2, I still use Imaginate 2 and have read that I will need to change to Layout process, or something like that. Most of my IM moves are just zoom in and out, or pan across. Usually just one photo at a time. Can the Layout tool do this? Could someone show us users how it works? What are the limitations of the Layout tool, in regards to photographs?

      Thanks
      Bob

PS.. I wonder why the the programmers needed to take out out ability to use IM within Edius V6?

Clearly it is not acceptable to penalise people upgrading to EDIUS 6 by removing the TM Pro functionality. Equally, I think most users also now realise that there is limited scope for future development with this particular application.

We propose, therefore, to provide a software patch, free of charge, to registered EDIUS 5 users via the normal software download section of the website. This patch will be available on the website for a limited period of time - concurrent with the EDIUS upgrade promotion at $299 which will run until the end of the year - and will enable existing users to continue to use TM Pro with EDIUS 6.

We hope that you find this to be an agreeable solution.

From other threads, I understand that the Imaginate programmers don't work at GV anymore, but I'm still perplexed by this, because surely GV still has the program source code. And I can't really see why anybody would want to remove the feature anyway. The ability to directly use the IVP file is still far better than exporting from Imaginate (as AVI). I think the export option also only allows exporting to SD, but using the IVP file allows everything to remain in HD if that's what your program setting are. This is a real loss.

Maybe GV might go the same was as the NX card and release IVP file support at a later date? GV? Anyone?

Not going to happen. GV would love to still be updating Imaginate but however complicated the code was, they cannot/do not have the ability/resources to do so.

You need to download the TM patch while it is posted on GV website and keep it around. Please note GV did not say (I stand corrected) the $299 price will be available indefinitely. It would be withdrawn once the NX and SP card support is made available - then you need to purchase the upgrade within the timeframe GV will announce at that time.
