I just bought a new computer and will go with V5 or V6 but for right now I'm trying to solve a new problem I've never seen on DVRex.

When I render an effect, heart transition etc the system renders it but then on playback I see hundreds of small digital blocks of all colors?

Any ideas what the cause and fix is?

    Thanks, Bob

Try changing the graphics card type in the DVRex settings.
Also, if I remember correctly, I don't think DVRex worked with Edius after version 4.

I haven't updated this DVRex system, this is still the original DVRex without any upgrades. The new computer I just bought will have V5 or V6 but the old one is original DVRex.

Any other ideas besides graphics card settings?

      Thanks Bob

"Rainbow blocks" is a sign of data transfer interruption.
        Defrag the drive
If you're using a high-bandwidth storage card (SCSI, etc), try throttling down its transfer rate
Check your PCI Latency setting in the BIOS - it should be 128 or larger.

To add insult to injury after the digital blocking which defragging didn't help, one of my HDD shows only about 10% of the folders I had in there yet the HDD shows it's almost full like all the folders are still there???

          Thanks for any input Bob

Huh? Don't understand. How can a hard-disk be 10% full and yet be nearly 100% full at the same time? Can you explain the method you use to determine Hard-disk space?

He is saying that only about 10% of the folders are shown, i.e. most are not shown, even though the disk is pretty well full.

Ah - that's the pain with M$*** Windows Explorer. I don't use it. Anyway, that tells me he has lots of hidden folders. AND lots of hidden temp files. He will need to delete it from the C drive. Then defrag again.

Go to Windows Explorer and enable "Show all files and folders" - then you can see the "rubbish" :-).

also, deleted folders will still consume hard disk space until you empty the recycle bin

Turn off RECYCLE BIN. I never used it. Double clicked on the ICON, and set the space allocated to ZERO across all your disks.

Could also have "System Restore" turned ON for all drives which fills even data disks fast, but of no use! (Windows default)

                          Dinosaur DVRex

                          Thanks for the tips.

I wasn't able to defrag the HDD, I get "disk structure is corrupted and unreadable" when I click on the HDD and this drive doesn't even show up on the list of drives when I attempt to defrag.

I guess I'll have to lose everything in this HDD and format the drive and if that doesn't work it's toast right?

                          TIA Bob

Run chkdsk /f on the drive.
                            For example, CHKDSK D: /F
                            if the drive is D:

When I Run chkdsk V:/f it just blinks the window to show the scan so fast I can't read it no matter how many times I check?
