  • AVCHD files and Edius

Customer gave me an 8cm DVD-R recorded from Sony consumer camcorder. They are VOB files in a Video_TS folder. Edius will not allow me to import the VOB files. They play fine from the camcorder and WMP.

How would I get these files into Edius? I do not want to import via composite. Thanks.

My hunch is that the recording was in HQ mode recorded at 9100 Mbps. Please tell me there is a way.
    Thanks,
    Ara

Is it SD? If so I think your best bet is to use Nero to make a DVD video disc then use Edius to rip the DVD. Unless someone has a better plan.

The fact they are in a VOB format seems to tell me they are not AVCHD but SD mpeg2 files, don't know much about the DVD cameras but
      Have you tried using DISCcapture
From the Menu bar select <Capture<>Disc Capture
      Worth a try

the disk needs to be finalized in the camera before you can use Edius Disk Capture

if Disk capture fails, T4 Xpress will work 100%, you can convert DVD to Canopus HQ or DV etc, won't take long

Tried Disc Capture and did not work. Disc has been fialized in the camcorder. Been reading the manual and it comes with software CD called PBM from Sony. Model#DCR-DVD650. It is SD 16X9.

Anton how much is this T4 Xpress? Many thanks.
          Thanks,

                  only in rare cases

in most cases, where one VOB consists of several VOB or has multiple audio or subtitles, renaming to mpg will be a disaster
