    Quicktime?

    I often have to provide a quicktime file for clients, and always try to us Edius to encode the file, always with awful results, turning to Premiere or vegas and results are fine - is it just me or does the encoder simply not work very well. I always get horrible tearing on fast movements, akin to incorrect field order, but worse..

    just wondered...

    I'll answer my own question - Procoder 3 does a fine job - but not Edius 5.5.

      QuickTime is not a friend of Edius

      I received a DVCPRO HD mov file today for inclusion in an edit

      I can't open the file and I have purchased all Calibrated codecs

      not even QuickTime player can open the file

      so, I feel your pain

        I have also had pretty good results with MPEG Streamclip which is free.

        I sort of wish Quicktime would die.

          Its always the Mac media heads that want everything quicktime - its really awful, and yes, Anton, I've got Calibrated software lying around after someone sent me their "version" of some EX files, not BPAV, but something that had been through the FCP mangle - it took weeks to untangle the files!

            I try the MPEG Streamclip but when I load an HQ AVI, I get nothing but a white screen, anything I'm missing?

              I hate Quicktime. It is a pain in the ....!!! Sometimes, I wished it go and drop dead. I feel Anton's pain too. I have my fair share of arm wrestling with that monster.

                I just download the free Handbrake program and it encode MP4 at 5000kbps as good as Edius encoded at 20000kbps

                  Huh? I don't understand. What is so good about that handbrake program in that case? If EDIUS encodes MP4 at 2Mbps is as good as the Handbrake fellow encoding at 5Mbps, I stick to EDIUS. Correct?

                    I think that you will find that you incorrectly read the number, it is clearly 20Mbps not 2Mbps.
