  • Installing Edius 5

    Hi
I have Edius 5 installed on my tower and Edius Neo on my laptop
I want to install Edius 5 on my laptop so I un-installed Neo using the Add and remove programs but when I try to install Edius 5 it says that there is a version of Edius on my computer and quits the install
Hou can I get Edius 5 onto my laptop
I have Vista Premium on both computers

reinstall the OS or spend hours in the registry cleaning up manually

what we need is a proper uninstaller

I have been there, done that :(

if you want to spend a few hours, do this

basically, search registry for Edius, when it finds, delete and press F3 to find next, you will do this hundreds of times and when done, do it again because it will find new ones the second time around

search Canopus, when it finds, delete and press F3 to find next, you will do this hundreds of times and when done, do it again because it will find new ones the second time around

also, don't forget to search the C:\Windows folder for pavedius and delete all instances, in my case two existed

there is also a pavedius registry key, seacrch and destroy

then delete anything canopus in Program Files/Common Files (Program Files x86/Common Files)

also, delete anything left behind in Program Files

also, the hidden folders in User and All Users/Application Data

when done, empty the hidden Temp folder

      then reboot and install Edius5

true word's, dear Anton...... but it needs imho more more louder to crying.....

maybe, a short try, before jump in the registry....
it is a short action, if it not help ...it can not to damage

Edius 5 Invalid Serial NumberThis error can occur when Windows Updater locked both the "pavedius.dll" and "pavplal.dll" files Edius need to install correctly.

Please attempt to test the following procedures.

        1) Pull out the Lan cable.
        2) Uninstall EDIUS.
        3) Restart Windows.
        4) Install EDIUS after deleting "pavedius.dll" and "pavplal.dll" from windows/system32 folder just after Windows starts.
*Don't reboot or shutdown before inputting serial number.
*Enter serial number directly by keyboard, do not by copy-and-paste.

Before doing the heavy duty seek and destroy from Anton, try just deleting the pavedius.dll and then try installing. This fixes most of these problems.

Deleting those files did not work
I do not know much about computers so I am not component enough to go into the registry
The insulation only goes to the very first line going across then an error message appears " cannot find Edius "
This is the full version of Edius 5 NOT the crossgrade
I had no trouble loading this into my tower which also had Neo installed but my Laptop dose not want to know

I had the same problem several times and the registry clean was the only solution

alternatively, a dedicated uninstall program could have helped at the time, such programs can remove all left behind garbage

hopefully future Edius versions don't suffer from this internal war
