  • Keep P2 timecode when copying to DVcam

I have 3 P2 cards (SD DV video) on the Edius timeline, and the client wants a DVcam tape with the original P2 timecode, because I'm not going to edit the show. They want to do the edit in-house on a mac. Now, the P2 video has some edits, so I can't match the P2 timecode on the Edius timeline T.C.

I'm thinking of just copying the P2 edit to a harddisk, but I still need to keep the original T.C. They have wmv window burns I made form the P2 cards, and have logged the in and out points already.

    I have a DSR40 and a HVD sony Unit.

    Any ideas?

When exporting are you telling EDIUS to use the orginal tc?
Also remember that framerate /tc settings must match .

Yes, for the wmv window burns, I did tell Edius to use orginial T.C. Will that work for outputting to a Sony DVcam VTR also? I'm using 4.61.

      Thanks,

I don't have 4.61 anymore but it was possible even then.
You have to adjust the setting for the outgoing stream this is separate from the overlay.
        From memory:
in the setting for deck there should be a setting which timecode you want to output that of the sequence (or the original from the footage)
There also is a setting for track tc priority.
I will update this later when I am behind a pc with EDIUS.

Okay, got it sorted out. There are two locations to check source T.C., and it prints with the source T.C. on the DVcam tape.

          Good to go,

No problem. Sometimes I just need to get off my lazy A** , and just try it.

Now, I'm going to try to write to a P2 folder.
