    Message to Glass Valley ...

I think I have seen enough people asking about WinXP Pro 64, Vista 32 or Vista 64 .... so why not have a sticky up on this forum that says -

    a) EDIUS hardware will NOT work under those operating systems
    b) EDIUS software itself could work - but no support for now

I mean that if I change my OS to Win Xp 64-bit (which I think it uses full ammount of RAM) my DVStorm2 card won't work?
Absolutely true ... ZERO device drivers for now.

Just wanted to chime in. I am still running my Storm2 with E4.5 and it still chugs along great in SD.

I have also been using FCP for a while now. I really miss th RT of that Strom Card. I'm seriously considering coming back to Edius for my HDV productions.

PS I noticed that I am now a "junior" again. Wish that worked in real life. Any way, I have been using Edius and been on this board since Edius 1.0. What's that 4 or 5 years? Time flies when your broke and having fun.

DVStorm2 wont do HD. You need NX card for that. So - you need to upgrade your system to EDIUS NX.

For HDV you would need a standard Firewire port (The storm doesn't have one).

The storm would be bypassed completely because it can't output HD.

You can edit in SD with DVStorm2's output, once you're ready to go back to an HD format (or HDV tape) you can switch the project to OHCI HDV and render out.

Of course the downside is not being able to view your material (while you edit) in HD resolutions.

The NX Express is one great set of hardware.

What Dave said is very true but be careful.

If you are editing your HD footage in a SD 16:9 project if you you do any titles, PiP, or Layout tool work you will need to check it when you switc back to a HD project and make sure they are sized correctly. :)
