MTS editing Lack

Yesterday

I test the canon 500 DSLR - shoot MOV 1980 x1080
and sony HV5X - Shoot MTS (AVDC ) format
1980 x 1080

I test both format and edit in edius

but what I encounter is canon MOV file play smooth ..
but MTS file by sony is lacking all the way

I am using i7 , 4gb DDR3

Any solution

Edius Version?? native AVCHD play-back is only in Edius5.5 or later availably

CPU ??... there are alot of different i7 CPU availably

projectsettings?? .... in relation to the source clip??

what for format did you compare from Sony with what for format from Canon ??






what did you mean with lacking all the way??

• a) ist the sony 270.- €uros Cam not so sharp as the Canon 750.- €uros Cam??

• b) play back problem ...Sony is "stuttering" and buffer runs down to 1 frame??

I have no problem play back with 3 or 4 streams 1920x1080 50i AVCHD in a 1920x1080 50i project
win7 64bit => with Edius 5.51
i7-960 => 12GB => sys disk WC-Veloci => media diks's WD-RE4 (without raid)
clean/small/fast setup without internet/virenscanne and other stuff => and with all "Antons-Settings"

There are no variable settings for i7 in the English language version of Edius 5.5. it may be in others apart from your German one.

My main problem not to compare I wish to know
why My canon 500 FullHD video in MOV can play very smooth in Edius
but My Sony Full HD video cant't play smooth

ok, I am back..... ;-)

the key is:

( I am using Edius 5.10 )

The Edius Feature from "AVCHD-Booster" is coming with version 5.5

The "Booster-feature" needs CPU power , more CPU more native ACHD streams plays smooth

all previous versions can not play native AVCHD clips
(or similar H.264 AVC codec clips)


all previous versions need to convert to HQ-Codec for to play smooth

the current version is: 5.51

The Update to 5.51 is for registred Edius_5 user is => FREE of CHARGE
no cost's, only can it download from your user account

for a fast play back in the next 5 minutes, convert it to HQ
contex on the clip in the Bin => convert => file => HQ

for all, what you work with Edius .....(not only AVCHD)
there are a lot of fixes between 5.1 an 5.51
download the FREE update, if you a regular/registred 5.0 user.
