  • first time success- newbie SD to HD to SD thanks everyone

    Hi all,
this time no problem to solve! I just thought I would thank you all for the help and advice on my migraton from SD to HD using Edius 5.12 I have just retired from industry and restarted my commercial video work again. I had to re-equip for HD but then my first job was an SD corporate induction video.

following your advice I shot this in HD, mixed some earlier SD and then jpeg stills, so quite a mix! I then converted the final vid to mpeg2 SD via Edius 5.

I struggled for a while with stuttering playback and moire effects using some of the bundled disc burner programmes: however, I then used DVD movie factory to output the final DVD and I must say the results are stunning. Played back through a standard DVD player to a 32" LCD flat screen, the results equal the sky signal quality, which is really sharp - astonishing! I have never seen such SD quality.

The only problem I had was that somehow my 1VA main track moved home to track 5! I thought I had lost it at first because I didn't purposely create a track 5! However, a superb outcome- thanks to all- In this forum we have the total knowledge base- what a weapon!

thanks Dave, yes Edius is the best! I remember the constant BSOD,s with Premiere and matrox- what horror stories - I nearly gave up video work as I spent more time rebooting and wondering what I had done wrong ! we have moved on now though! Cheers
