  • Clips suddenly locked on Timeline

I was working away with video clips on the Timeline and everything was going smoothly but when I added a title to the Title track suddenly I couldn't move that or any other clip.
I know I must have pressed something accidentally but I don't know what it was.
    I would appreciate some help
    Thanks
    Don

if the titler is open and minimized to taskbar, you will see a lock icon when trying to do anything

Thanks for that lightning fast reply Anton but I was aware of that and it isn't the problem unfortunately. Any other ideas mate?

when it happens, are you able to save and exit? or is that locked as well?

also, if an autosave is taking place on a very complex project, it could also take a few seconds or more and this would give the same result

Hold everything Anton, I decided to exit Edius, reboot the system and revert to a previously saved file. Even though the title has to be redone I can move all the clips OK now so thanks as always Anton (I would still like you living next door but having you on the Forum is almost as good)
          Regards,

Most important thing first Anton - what's your favourite wine?
Now, the original problem hasn't been fixed, a title still locks up everything when it's created on the Title track.
However, if it's created in a Video track everything is OK until I move it to the Title track and it locks everything up again - bit of a mystery eh?
              Regards,
              Don

that is indeed a mystery, which titler are you using?

can you add a second T track and see if that works, if yes, delete the original T track

I only use V tracks for titles because you can use almost any GPU transition with full alpha when title is on V track, plus and most important, you can change from HD to SD and vice versa and the title remains the correct size

now try the same when title in in a T track

                1. Cab Sav
                2. Shiraz
                3. Chardonnay

Pat, this has never happened before but it occurred with a new title that locked up everything on the Timeline. I tried Anton's last suggestion and it fixed the problem but I had to reverse the procedure because I already had titles on T1 and T2 from earlier in the project.
It's 11.30 pm here at the moment so I'll try adding T3 tomorrow

I am the same as Anton. I pretty much put all of the titles on the V tracks.

Thanks guys, I've tried it on a V track and it works fine so this will be my new method - appreciate the help.

Just remember that you will will have to have it on the top track for it show all of the time.
