  • Moving all clips to Right of cursor

    Hi,
Has anybody had, and more importantly cured the below problem.

I often use the shift + alt to slide/move all clips to the right of the timeline cursor both audio & video tracks- no problem.

Occasionally when attempting to do the same procedure it doesn't move the clips on the audio only tracks - just leaves them in position, likewise if there is more than one audio track only the selected audio track moves leaving the other audio track and video tracks in position.

Have I inadvertantly altered a setting somewhere or is this a known problem?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Keith

Is the audio starting before the place where you are trying to move them from?
I've found that it only moves items starting after the beginning of the move point.

      No known problem at all.
As Graham said, it only moves everything that STARTS to the right of the cursor.

        Hi,
Thanks for the replies gents. All the clips video & audio started at exactly the same spot. The odd thing is if I open a different project all is fine but this other particular project just won't behave.
The 'faulty' project is one that has been edited on Edius 4.24 elswhere and the EDL imported to my Edius 4.24 with all identical video clips - perhaps this 'importation' is the problem?

forgive for asking this but did you check down to the frame on whether they start at the same spot?

if they do no biggie... you can select everything to the right of the cursor like any other windows application:

          1. Draw a selection box around it all
          2. Hold CTRL down and select them individually

then move them. Not the easiest ways but they do work :)

            Hi Mike
Thanks for reply - the tracks were all cut on the exact same frame so it just has to be something else. Your suggestions are noted but like you say not the easiest to perform by comparison. I can't see why one project originating on my system all works and an imported project EDL doesn't.

Check if sync mode is turned on if not turn it on.
I have a feeling sync mode is not enabled.

                Now this is odd.

I now have 4.24 and I'm making a 1 minute first play video. It starts with a sound effect has a still and some other sound effects and some narration.

No way can I get all the tracks to move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I came back to read the post to see if Keith had sorted it and posted a reply, no. I've tried the suggestions, sync mode etc, all to no avail, apart from manually selecting them.

check your application settings, I believe your version has some settings that override sync mode

I only have 4.03 and it works fine and does not have these new settings

                    Hi,
At this time I still haven't resolved the problem as to why one project works fine with the Shift+Alt function and the other doesnt.
Anton may have hit a possibility as the project that doesn't work was created on an entirely separate system allbeit same Edius version and NX, so I will have to check the settings Anton mentions from my project that works with those of the imported project that doesn't.

I checked sync mode and it was on.
The two projects I'm on now don't have any trouble.
I've started them from the same base settings I started the one I have trouble with.

sounds like a fault with 4.24

                        4.5 is only days away

I don't htink you can blame it on a 4.24 fault since these are very isolated incidents. But it is true that 4.5 is verry close.
