Anyone have further thoughts on this or can correct me if I'm off-base?

I think I follow you - there's an option on Forum/Thread marking as 'read' which is currently session-cookie based. Other options are database-driven, which most forums use.

I can't switch this option without discussion with the server admin, since it affects space and processing.

Stay tuned.

Just first impression but I don't like this one....

My thought at first but I'm warming up to it. It's more complex in many, mostly good, ways. I suggest that you click the FAQ box at the top and go to the FAQs about how the forum works. There are now many things I prefer here and other than not having navigation at the bottom of the thread as well as the top, only one thing that serious bugs me.

I could be wrong, but didn't the old forum have cookies to keep track of what you'd already looked at, so that when coming back to the thread later it would take you back to that point in the thread so that you didn't have to search for where you left off? Maybe my memory's fuzzy but I find myself searching too much through what I've already read on a long thread.

Anyone have further thoughts on this or can correct me if I'm off-base?

I'd prefer to see the old form or at least its format back. Just first impression but I don't like this one....

Mr. Sparkle, don't tell me you guys trashed the old database. It held a lot of valuable (Imaginate, ADVC 300) information for me and I'm sure many others.

Oh and...

Colour/Nav Bar at thread end

1) heavy colours like being used now are a l/t vision killer. Proven lights are better as in old forums

2) Agree. We need an end of thread/bottom of page return to the main index of the cat. we are in

I would also like to suggest that this forum is missing the breadcrumb navigation at the bottom, basically, the navigation structure at top should be duplicated at the bottom like on all other forums

I too like the green thick line separating posts. And I also like how it separates posts. What I don't like is how bright it is when it comes to reading text that is adjacent to it. It could be about 25-50% darker and it would still serve the same purpose, just without the distraction.

Just my opinion.

One possible avenue we may explore after the first couple of weeks is change the Broadcast forum to a separate community that resides here, but remains "off the chart". Gaining access would be through a separate application process.

It is not working as it is at present. There is already one thread started that is obviously from someone who is not in broadcast.

I definitely don't want knowledgebases to become restricted.

But here's a color suggestion. I like the readability of most of the new look, but the bright neon green is a bit distracting for me especially in the area of the big bars between posts. It's like my eyes are having problems as I try to read the text (which I like) but then there's these bright neon green bars that sort of overpower and mess with my eyes. I don't mind the color, but I would like to see the brightness dropped by like 25% or something.

Just my two cents.
